Miss Redwood City 2001
Allison Wood began her involvement with Miss America in 1996 when she competed in a local pageant on a dare. She never thought that her participation would earn her enough scholarship dollars to pay for her entire teaching credential.
A former Irish Dancer and a nationally ranked Synchronized Swimmer, Allison saw many parallels with athletics and the Miss America program. As Miss Clovis 2000 and Miss Redwood City 2001, she noted the same focus on self improvement, a commitment to others, and representing something larger than yourself. She hopes that participation in the Miss Redwood City/San Mateo County Competition will instill those same values in the young women who compete.
Allison works as a Clinical Research Associate at a diagnostics company in South San Francisco. She holds a Masters in Public Health from the University of San Francisco, a Masters of Arts in Spanish from the University of California at Santa Barbara and a Bachelor of Arts and teaching credential from Fresno State.
Bob was born and raised in Redwood City and has volunteered with Miss Redwood City/San Mateo County for about 30 years running various technical aspects of the pageant show. He is a 40+ year volunteer of the Peninsula Celebration Association (PCA), the sponsors of the annual Fourth of July parade and festival in Redwood City which is traditionally Miss California's first appearance. Having grown up in the PCA, Bob has served over the years as a board member, committee chair, event chair, vice president and is the organization's current president. He has performed with ComedySportz San Jose as Mr. Voice where he also was responsible for show tech.
Bob is the owner of Woodside Patrol, a local private security patrol and alarm services company located in Portola Valley, and lives in the South Bay with his daughter Christina and his son Andy.
